Early in 1863, thirteen men and boys were executed after being taken
prisoner by the Confederate Sixty-Fourth North Carolina Volunteer Infantry.
This incident , as well as other related barbarous acts, is described in our collection

General. After the war, he became a North Carolina Superior Court Judge,
