Who Owns the Law?

Over 2500 cities, counties, states and provinces have adopted building codes that were written, and copyrighted, by Southern Building Code Congress International, a non-profit organization. To get a personal copy of the law, an individual has to buy the book published by the organization. Making copies of the codes or posting on the internet has been ruled to be a copyright infringement.
